NOAA recently announced the award of $23.7 million in funding for the construction of the Oyster Bayou Marsh restoration project.
The project will restore 600 acres of marsh habitat at the mouth of the Calcasieu River in Louisiana, which were destroyed by Hurricanes Rita and Ike.
This project is funded under the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act Program. The project is being designed and implemented in partnership with the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.
